Touchpad not working Acer es1 531

Hi can anyone help? The laptop touchpad on my Acer es1 531 has stopped working. I have gone into the device manager and recently found a problem with the I2c HID device which had a fault of device cannot start code 10. I updated on the windows updates and this resolved the fault here. I have also been into the bios settings as suggested on another website and switch it to basic settings but still not working. I have also tried updating the driver for the same off the website,but still no success. Anyone offer any further advice as to what the problem is?

Does mouse pointer show up on the screen?

Nothing on screen. However fi I plug in a USB mouse it appears on the screen then. when I do the left and right hand buttons seem to operate back to front. Is right click for anything that normally is left click and vice versa

I recommend you to please follow the steps below:-

Open Device Manager.
Double click on the I2C HID device with the error.
Click the Driver tab.
Select the Uninstall option.
Reboot the system.
The system will automatically reload the I2C HID when it boots into Windows.

Note: It may take a minute to detect the hardware and load the latest driver.

Thanks for help so far. Done as suggested but still not being recognised on restart.Any other suggestions??

Just checked device manager again and the I2c HID device no longer appears in the device manager??

Hi,
Give this a try, go to Acer support site, download and install Serial IO driver, then switch back Touchpad to Advanced mode in BIOS.

Did the above but still no evidence of mouse pad working..any other ideas please?

Been through the whole of the device manager and cannot see any yellow marks against anything..?

Hi,
Right click HID-compliant mouse, select Properties, move to Details tab, select Hardware IDs and post the Value window.

Yes did this first off. When machine starts no mouse appears. When I connect USB mouse it appears bu t the strange thing is that the left and right buttons function appears back to front?? Not sure if this is linked to the problem.?
Have noticed in the device manager that against the I2c hid device there is a down arrow. Is this normal??

Yes, it's not normal, go to Device manager, expand system devices, right click I2C Host controller, go to Driver tab and uninstall the driver, reboot and see whether it helps.
