Hello everyone.
I've purchased this cool thing a year and a half ago, and now i'm thinking of RAM upgrade. I've never upgraded ram before, just in case.
When i thought about this, i started to search things like how to choose propper ram and all that.
My laptop has 6GB of ram now, and i feel it's not that enough for me.
I chose SODIMM Kingston HyperX Impact [HX321LS11IB2K2/16] 8GB x2=16 GB.
I hope i propperly understood that so-dimm is for laptops and dimm is for desktops. Now only one thing is stopping me, does my motherboard support this memory? i can't check specs of my motherboard because it's some unknown KBL charmeleon_kls and i can't find it anywhere.
My main questions are, can i install the ram which i provided in the lines above, and will my motherboard support it?
And is so-dimm actually for laptops?
Who knows and is well versed, please, help.

In  my opinion, the best choice for your laptop would be the Industry Standard ram in link below.

    https://www.kingston.com/us/memory/search?model=97810&devicetype=3&mfr=ACE&line=Aspire

Your laptop doesn't support XMP profiles.  Kingston doesn't say whether or not your laptop supports Hyper X Plug-N-Play auto over clocking ram.

Here's an example of an Acer Predator laptop that Kingston says supports HyperX PnP auto overclocking ram.  The Acer Predator below doesn't support XMP profiles either but can support PnP auto overclocking ram.   PlugNPlay auto overclocking and XMP are not the same thing.  The HyperX that you bought also has XMP profiles and JEDEC profiles.....so it's going to work.....but....I'd just go with this.  The article in link below explains it much better than I can.

Edit:  Userbenchmark is a useful tool to figure what happens when you (someone else) installs a certain part.  I hate to use the words guinea pig or lab rat, but sometimes you can see what other people have done and make your decision based on that.  But you have to look at quite a few benchmarks to draw any conclusions.  Mixing enthusiast ram with mainstream Industry Standard ram is generally a bad idea.  Your laptop came with Industry Standard ram.

@soose all laptop bios are locked even if your bios would support xmp profiles you wouldnt be able to load them as the bios are locked in the end its all up to you cpu if its supports 2400/2666/3200 etc whatever your cpu supports its whatever max ram clock you can use this said 7th gen only support 2400 8th gen+ 2666 and so on also unlocking bios ist dangerous you could completely brick your laptop and its not allowed to discuss it in any way in this community please read the ACUA and if you have a 7th gen as specifies above by JordanB just get some hyperx 2400 or vengeance up to 32gb just make sure youre always in dual channel with a minimum of 16gb either 2x8 or 2x16 as i said youre ok with the hyperx as long as its 2400mhz because even if you get 2666 will clock down to 2400 as the cpu doesnt support more even if you had your bios unlocked and able to load xmp profiles youre always limited by the cpu support

This ram has xmp profiles. The model A715-71G, has the same motherboard as the models g3-571, g3-572 and g3-573. The colleague @xapim was able to successfully install a ram with xmp profiles on the g3-572 model. Perhaps he can tell you whether or not it is necessary to use a modified bios.

Why do i need to modify bios? Only because of this bios doesn't support xmp profiles or something?

And, what do you mean by modifying bios? if you mean modifying it's settings then i'm pritty ok with that, but if you mean installing a different firmware then i guess i'll better go for another ram.

I'm not sure if on this specific model, whether or not it is necessary to have a modified bios. Wait for the Xapim colleague to reply to the topic.

To  answer your question, HyperX was not recommended or indicated as being supported by Kingston on their website for your laptop.

If you want a definitive answer, you can ask Kingston customer support.

    https://www.kingston.com/us/support

Here's the Acer specs for your laptop......

Here is the ram that Kingston recommends and says is compatible with your laptop.

    Hello,
Thank you all for your answers.
So, i have intel core i5 7300HQ. It wouldn't support ram above 2400 mhz then?
Next, i've viewed all the models that kingston recommends for my laptop, but there is no 16/2 8gbx2 kits. So, i'm not sure what i should do now, i'll just go and search for a ram that's 8gbx2 and is 2400 mhz.

I got 4 ram kits i can afford here. If none is compatible, then i guess i have to wait with the upgrade, because i don't want rams below 2300 mhz. Can someone please check if the following modules are compatible?
    Kingston ValueRAM KVR16S11K2/16
    Kingston ValueRAM KVR13S9K2/16
    Patriot Viper 4 [PV416G240C5SK]
    Ballistix Sport LT BLS2K16G4S240FSD
Thanks for your time in advance, hope i'm not a very annoying newbie, lol.

All you have to do is call, email or chat Kingston, Patriot, and Crucial support and tell them that you want the ram to run at a minimum clock speed of 2400 and your laptop supports JEDEC 260 pin SO-DIMM DDR4 2400.  Also tell them you have Acer A715-71G laptop.  They'll tell you what is compatible and what isn't compatible.

You can copy and paste what I wrote in your email.

You just google search for Kingston, Patriot, and Crucial customer support.

    Here's the official Acer specs.

I have finally found a compatable ram which i can purchase. Everyone thank you for help. A final question, is there something i will need to do before opening the maintenence hatch or however you'll call it? Sure i'll unplug the charger, anything else?

I always disconnect the battery just in case. But it is not a prerequisite for installing ram.
