I bought it and it runs at 2666mhz like it's supposed to. I bought original ram to upgrade my ram to 8GB and now it runs at 2400 mhz. Any help? I did use search function before I post this.

No it is a reflection of the posts and questions that we have been answering on this subject. Incidentally I have exactly the same situation with my AN515-42, it came with 8gb 2666 Mhz and I added another 8gb of crucial 2666 and they run at 2400 Dual Channel. Having said all this the difference is negligible

Sometimes Acer installs 2666 ram even though the PC will run at 2400.  They know it's going to downclock which is perfectly fine and perfectly normal. . I assume most PC manufacturers buy ram in very  large quantities and don't want to get stuck with surplus inventory of 2400 ram.

It's true that @MaClane found his info in the service guide, but sometimes the SG can have typos or be a little confusing.

I dug deeper in the Service Guide and found additional info.  Here's what I found.....

    Also, userbenchmark shows 2400

    https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/Acer-Aspire-A515-43/149211

But do not despair, you can still have a very fast ram benchmark.  But you have to  remove both sticks of your existing ram and install two stick of ram in link(s) below.  (Don't try to mix enthusiast ram with your ram)

    https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/19215629

    Here's another good benchmark.

    https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/18767177

But I'm going to be honest with you, I would keep your existing ram that you're using now.  So I gave you links to enthusiast ram that I would never buy if I had your laptop.  I would use your existing ram if I had your laptop.  But that just my personal opinion.

And lastly, a lot of people think that the enthusiast ram is faster because it has a lower CL (CAS latency).  That's not necessarily the reason.  As the article below states..."And CL ratings are an inaccurate, and often misleading, indicator of true latency (and memory) performance."

Everything I wrote is just my opinion.....if you want the real scoop, you can email Acer.

As my colleague says we need your exact model number but as a preliminary thought, many have found that the original stick when installed by itself runs at 2666 but when paired with a 2666 upgrade they run Dual Channel at 2400. This is because paired 2666 RAM need XMP technology to run at 2666 and at present the Nitro and Aspire laptop series does not have that capability. Kingston claim to have a DDR4 266Mhz plug and play XMP, that I have heard works

    Good evening Aegis !

    This model supports a maximum of 32GB of DDR4 2400 / 2666Mhz RAM

Post a print of the CPU-z and HWInfo64 to identify the RAMs and frequencies.

Yes it does support 2400/2666 but it has been an ongoing issue to get 2 sticks to run at 2666 and as yet I haven't seen a solution due to the lack of XMP support in the BIOS

Before I post this thread, I found one thread and OP said he luckily got it running on 2667mhz. That's all I could find. Can you please provide me links so I can research and try to fix this issue?

I contacted Acer's support and their employee have no idea why I have this problem. They were contradicting themselves about how my laptop wouldn't run above 2400 MHZ but my laptop did run at 2666mhz when it arrived?  They ended up telling me to wait for higher department in one business day.

You could always post a screenshot of your original ram running at 2666.

why does another same laptop models on another threads run 2666mhz but mine can't? do it have something to do with bios version or something? Some threads's users say this model can only utilize 2400mhz but another threads contradict that by being able to run 2666 mhz anyways?

Sorry, I honestly don't know what's happening there.  Hopefully, you and @andylb will be able to figure out what's going on since he said he has the same thing on his nitro.  I just wanted to give you some additional info from Service Guide and specs.

Nah, not your fault. You and andy are right. It's still weird that the info is inconsistent about whether it can run at 2666 mhz or not. I ended up keeping it anyways. This laptop's really good and high quality! Pretty sure this is perfect budget laptop for basic gaming and entertainment!
