New Acer TC-885: memory options

I'm looking to buy a new desktop and the TC-885 is looking good however I'm not sure about the memory options specifically SSD vs Optane performance.

I can get a 1TB HDD with 16GB Optane, or the same HDD with Windows on a 128GB SSD.  Both are the same price.
Is either better? Will I notice a difference? Is it worth going for the 32GB Optane?
Using it for home computing & programming / software development.

Thanks

The SSD is faster and performance is good used for 3DX Point media but when its comes to Optane the performance will be better then the SSD.
But its up to you to choose which one you prefer

From what I understand, the Optane memory is used to cache often accessed areas of the HDD, speeding disk access up, but not as fast as a dedicated SSD. The only disadvantage I see with the 1TB+128GB option is that the 128GB can fill up fairly quickly unless you are studious about keeping data only on the HDD. If you have the budget I'd look seriously at upgrading the SSD to 512GB or 1TB.

Thanks for the answers.  In the end I went with Optane together with the HDD for pretty much your reasons billsey, plus I managed to get the larger Optane card cheap and this will speed up everything, not only what's stored on the small SSD.  Spent some time drooling over the large (900GB+) Optane SSDs but they are eye-wateringly expensive!

Yeah, I got a black Friday deal on a 2TB M.2 NVMe for my system and needless to say I'm pleased with the performance. :)
