Acer 5 Nitro Blue Screen Video Scheduler Error World of Warcraft

Hello,

I own 2 Acer 5 Nitro gaming laptops with the Geforce GTX 1050 TI video cards. I purchased them about 2 years ago.

Recently I decided to start playing World of Warcraft Classic. After I successfully load up the Battlenet Blizzard launcher and press the WOW classic PLAY button, about 50% of the time I get either a Win 10 blue screen of death with the Video_Scheduler_Error or the WoW client to freezes up on the login screen.

Normally I end up repairing the WoW Classic files, then I delete the WTF directory and remove all Addons from the Interface directory that is within the WoW Classic directory. I am using the latest Nvidia drivers and have cleaned the registry, I have even used a Display Device Remover (DDU). I'm still getting these problems.

Both of my Nitro's are clean with not many installed programs.

Since this is happening in BOTH of my Acer Nitro 5's (which are identical) this has to be a problem with the actual laptop. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks :)

Not necessarily, Has the game manufacturer issued any patches or made changes to the game lately ? Please test both laptops with a different but similar demanding game and let us know

I have used both of these Acer Nitro 5's to play EverQuest another MMO and had no problems.

I contacted a Blizzard tech support rep and here's what they sent me:

Thanks for reaching out to us on this crash issue. We will do our best to help. My name is Tech Specialist Game Master XXXXXX and on cases with a BSOD ( Bluescreen ), we tend to suggest a local tech as this is a problem outside of the game it's self.

Here is the documentation on the BSOD you are getting. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/bug-check-0x119---video-scheduler-internal-error

For now, the main thing I would try here is a new admin account. Sometimes this will help with errors like this. http://battle.net/support/article/34550

If this fails, it may be worth trying a selective startup. http://battle.net/support/article/23848

Last, in the end, a local tech would be best. This is an OS based error and one we are not best to address.

Thanks for giving us a chance to work with you.

Interesting, so it looks like a Nvidia driver compatibility problem with that particular game. I wonder what the Nvidia support forums say

Thanks for the info! I will try to contact Nvidia and see what they say. :)

Also, I went to the Win 10 Control Panel and ran the Windows Reliability Monitor and the same crash (Blue Screen of Death -- Video Scheduler Error) keeps coming up. Here's the error code and it's the same every crash:

Update: I finally got World of Warcraft to work again. I did a registry cleanup using CCleaner and then started the Battlenet Launcher "Run as Administrator" and no crashes. Once I get to the WoW character select screen, it never crashes.  I will keep everyone posted on my progress.

Looks like "Run as Administrator" didn't solve the problem.

How do I retract an "Accepted Answer"? Sorry, I'm new here and I still need someone to help me with this.

Hi folks, still no luck fixing this bug. I have reset Windows and tried every kind of fix imaginable. The only thing that works for me is running the Battlenet launcher as Adminstrator and deleting the WTF files in the WoW directory each time I want to play WoW.

I have tried every solution including resetting Windows. At this point, I have determined that something about the Acer Nitro 5 is incompatible with Blizzard's World of Warcraft. I have 2 Acer Nitro 5's and both of them crash when I try to run WoW.

I posted the same problem on Nvidia community forums and have had no help whatsoever.

Is there any way of getting OFFICIAL Acer support on this issue?

unfortanatley acer was no help with this issue there best answer is send it in and we will check for hardware issues but running a simple benchmark will show there is no hardware issue its all software I have it pinned down to something in the acer os if you disable it it will work fine but then you lose your nitrosense the only fix I have found is going in to your wow settings and add an additional line then put -windowed   then switch it to full screen
