Hi,

I was wondering if I can replace the default ram installed on my laptop which is a 4gb DDR4 2400mhz ram. I already installed a 8gb DDR4 2666mhz Ram on the second slot. What will happen if I install another 8gb DDR4 2666mhz same brand as the other one and remove the installed 4gb 2400mhz? I have 12gbs of ram as of the moment and I want to upgrade it to 16gb. Will it work? What are the problems that I will encounter in doing this?

This is the default ram originally isntalled on my laptop 4GB DDR4 2400

And this is the 8gb DDR4 2666 ram I bought.

Thanks in advance.

Problems, none, sometimes running in double channel is tricky (even when the sub-timings match) which is why it's recommended to buy matched RAM (those packs they sell that already have 2 or 4 sticks in them). If at all possible try to get one like the 8GB DDR4-2666 you already have (same model), but either way it'll be running at a max. clock speed of 2133 MHz most likely.

And your processor can go up to 32GB probably (I'm assuming it's a 7th gen i5 since you didn't mention it... haha), so if you require more in the future that's probably your limit.

Anyway, how come you need as much as 16GB of RAM if you don't mind my asking? ^^,
