Hey guys. Got my 2019 Acer Helios 300 here. Very happy with her so far. Shes only a week old!
I use a cooling pad underneath her which is a bit noisy but has helped when gaming for sure. That being said, when i FIRST started using the system, i noticed temps above 90 on Asassins Creed Origin. Rarely, but it was there. Since then I have been playing AC Origins and Watch Dogs 2 alot and both have been using a throttlestop profile to keep temperatures lower. When i use max fans and cooling pad these temps rarely touch above 82 now, generally in the 70s range, which is totally acceptable. But tonight I noticed TS logged  a spike of 88 . Again not terrible, but should I be concerned about that temp? In most review videos i see temps well into the 80s in AAA gaming. Any ideas?

I agree. Random spokes to high temps are pretty normal on these laptops. Mine will randomly spike to 90-92, even when I'm not really doing anything. As long as your sustained average temps stay under 90c (cpu) 70c (gpu) I think you should be fine.

It's designed to run at the limits. Meaning right under it's throttling temperature, which I believe to be at 90c.

It all depends on the silicone lottery some throttle on 90 some over some just under even the the same exact hardware doesnt behave the same way that why mi advice its always stay on 80/85 max just to be safe :)
