My Travel Mate got a broken wire a month ago but at that time till last week I'm able to use but just last week, it got broken. The automatic repair even the start up repair couldn't fix it and when I reset the PC but keeping my files option it couldn't finish the process. Right from the start it would stop. Now for some reasons, when I try to power on my laptop again after the failed automatic repair, instead leading me to the usual more advanced options it suddenly lead to a window that gives me two choice. The one is just erased my files and the other is clean up the drive so the files will be hard to retrieve again. I leave it there because I don't what to do but my cousin press something which I think is clean up the drive because the process is so slow. Is there a way to stop the reset the PC? Because I still have important files there. And also if there isn't, if my retrieve the hard disk of the laptop and turned it into a hard drive, will it still be usable?

Likely what it is doing is a check for errors on the C: drive. You should leave it to go through the process. It will take quite some time but nothing will be deleted if it's not a corrupt file, and in most cases it will be able to repair files.

I'm kinda hesitating about that because there are only two option which is just delete my personal file and clean up drive. Under the clean up the drive, there is a text says that if I clean up the drive it will be hard to retrieve the files. Yes it is sound possible but I'm an amateur as of now in handling computer even though I want to take computer engineering.

You can just press and hold the power button to turn of the machine and stop the repair. Then turn it back on and immediately press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key. This should bring you back to the recovery screen with advanced options. From there we might be able to run a few disk checking/file repairing tools (sfc /scannow and chkdsk /f) to get it back up and running. Jack E/NJ
