R11 CB5-132T-C7R5 chromebook was working fine. Low battery indicator came up and it shutdown (I don't remember any low power warning popping up). Plugged in the AC power. The power indicator- blue LED comes on - in about 15 seconds the screen lights up (goes from black to grey) for ~ 0.5 sec then screen goes black again and simultaneously the blue LED turns off. After about 5 sec. the blue LED comes on again and the cycle starts again but the second time the screen flashes on for about a quarter of a second, the blue LED goes off then on again after 5 sec.

The battery seems to charge - battery charging LED goes from orange to eventually blue when plugged in.

i took the base cover off and disconnected the battery. When turned on with the AC plugged in it functions the same as described above but the charging LED indicator just flashes orange.

After reconnecting in the battery it continues the same as previously.

Any ideas?

Somehow it appears to be stuck in suspend mode. Disconnect the battery and charger again. Replace covers. Try pressing and holding the power button for about a minute. Then open it up again to reconnect the battery. Plug the charger back in and wait till the charge light turns blue before trying to turn it on again. Jack E/NJ

i followed your steps - tried it 2X. Both LED indicators came on -blue right away when i plugged in the AC - i guess the battery has barely discharged from when i fully charged it previously, yesterday. (i turned it off yesterday by holding the power button down as i didnt want to potentially cause any damage by leaving it constantly cycling as it seems to be doing) Anyways the power on LED also came on when i plugged in the AC -i didnt have to lift the lid or press the power button to turn it on - and it is doing the same cycle as before.
Thank you for this suggestion, much appreciated. Any further suggestions?

Tried it a few times - everytime it starts starts it does the same thing as before - i am to hold the ECS and refresh keys while i turn on the power button - am i supposed to hold them all down for a given length of time or is it supposed to work as soon an you press the power button - if so it did not work.

First press & hold ESC+F3 . Then while still pressing & holding these 2 keys, press the power button. If nothing good happens after about 30 seconds, then follow the directions on the bottom of the link https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27649  to make a USB recovery stick from another machine.
