I still think the only keys that will assume as media when this feature its enabled in the bios itself are the F1 to F12  only the other remaining ones would have to be used normally pressing FN but its just a supposition :) unless anyone else here with a H500 confirms that all work

Thanks for the answer xapin, but I went into the BIOS and changed the function key behaviour to “Media Keys” and now all the function keys from F1-F12 works fine without the need of pressing Fn but for some reason the media keys still needs pressing Fn.

Probably those aren't included in that bios function and only the F1 to F12 are part of that bios feature it's the most logical answer for it in my view 😉

  • Have you tried uninstalling the keyboard driver in device manager? In addition, is the acer quick access program installed? Could it be any problem related to windows 10 version 1909?

I have 3 HID keyboards devices in device maneger and one standard PS/2 Keyboard, right now I'm using the laptop as a desktop and have it hooked up to a monitor and a keyboard.
yes I do have quick access program installed, should I remove it?
and I dont think 1909 is the problem as this problem was here from the moment I noticed it ages ago.

It is not necessary to uninstall the acer quick access program. Make sure the media keys work in the windows 10 movies and tv app. I have the an515-51 model and have verified that these keys work in the movies and tv app but don't work in windows media player.
