bought a triton 500 for my dad. he installs kaspersky . and malwarebytes which was originally stopping steam from installing and working correctly. the same with origin. he just launched gear of war 5 on microsoft store only for it to crash and not even reach the title screen. he tried exiting out of it using task manager and it gives the options for lock , change password, task manager etc. but when he clicks it nothing happens. upon restarting the computer it restarts still in the crashed state with nothing happening. when it crashed the first time kaspersky was telling that gears of war might not run correctly and he allowed the module in it but now as said the problem persists. the computer turns on, logs in and then thats it. the icons in the tray some load and others don't and as said gears is still in the background like a png.

please give a hand as if it is malwarebytes and kaspersky I wouldn't expect it. although its a thing to not use 2 anti-virus he has been using them together for years as far as i can tell. is it a windows update or just a dodgy unit?

my guess is it is the 2 together but I can't be sure as said he has used them together for years and had no problems unless they have got a new update which cause conflictions. what I do know is I use kaspersky on its own and it's a pain. constantly blocking things eg. resident evil 2 when i exit the game it crashes everytime due to it being blocked by kaspersky.

he is now "resetting this pc" using the advanced boot options but I got to say i'm personally not got too much hope at the moment. he hasn't had it a month and has so far had to restart a good number of times.

thanks

First try uninstalling, not just disabling, any non-Microsoft scanners like Norton, AVG, and the two you mentioned. Nowadays, most folks only need Windows Defender and Malicious Software Removal Tool (mrt.exe) that are continuously and auto updated. Jack E/NJ

computerguy131 if you reset to factory via stock recovery make sure to follow these steps and backup everything u need first, select do not keep your files for a clean install because this is the only way you would fix any software issues the keep my files option usually never fixes anything if the issue persists after a clean install i would probably say its hardware issues and contact acer support and send it back to get it fixed/replaced
