AMD Ryzen 5 2500U quad-core processor (Up to 3 6GHz) | 8GB DDR4 Memory | 1TB 7200Rpm SATA hard drive | AMD Radeon RX 560x with 4 GB

I just got the above laptop in the mail.  Popped an |
Intel 660p Series M.2 2280 1TB PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 3D2, QLC Internal Solid State Drive | into the slot, and it's not being picked up by the motherboard.  I've seen a few things on this but nothing really concrete.

Does anyone know EXACTLY what that slot supports and how?  Or am I just going to have run and grab something else?  Not the end of the world, I'll throw the Intel disk into my desktop, just annoying that I can't find good documentation about this.

Well, that's silly.  It was an incredibly cheap laptop, and this upgrade would have made it stellar for the price.  Oh well.  Wonder if they'll eventually put out a bios update or if the hardware busses simply aren't there?  Thanks for your reply.  I'll have to drop back to a good old fashioned SSD it would seem.
  • Yes, I understand the frustration, you can still use a M.2 SATA SSD and there's hardly any noticeable difference between the speed between NVMe and SATA M.2 drives, NVMe excels only in transferring large files.

The M.2 slots supports M.2 2280. I popped in a "Kingston A400 240G Internal SSD M.2 2280" 2 days ago and it got picked up right out of the bat. To make it even better,  cloned my windows needed partitions from my factory shipped HDD onto this, set boot to pick the SSD, and it booted right out of it with 0 issues.
