Simple explanation, Checked the bios there is no option in there for touchpad,
After fresh install of windows 10 pro from the default windows 10 home, the touch-pad stopped working.
Drivers from the website allegedly only signed for Windows 10 home???????

Hi,
Go to Device manager, expand Human Interface devices and Mice and other pointing devices, post the snip please.

Device isn't in there, not even being recognized by firmware.0 -
Go to Acer support site and download Serial IO driver version(in the snip), then go to Device manager, expand System Devices, uninstall the driver for Intel Serial IO Host controller and install the downloaded driver, the drivers are for Windows 10 64-bit versions.

Thanks doing this now, I am not kidding, but there is no Serial IO drivers for intel in device manager0

Says, this device is not supported? Downloaded from the Acer website for the a515-540

No problem, go to Device manager, expand Mice and other Pointing devices, highlight and right click HID-compliant mouse, select Properties, move to Details tab, select Hardware IDs using the drop down arrow, post the value window snip.

OK, go to Acer support link below and install Serial IO Driver(WinPE/WinRE) after downloading it.

I tried that earlier, never worked. Is there anyway to force it to install? Said "Device not supported"0

Have you pressed Fn+F7 buttons after installing the driver, sorry I forgot to mention that you need to install both touchpad drivers as well(Elan and Synaptics) from the acer download page.0

-
Yes, both drivers have been installed, as far as I can tell there is no serial IO driver installed? Maybe I should download from intel? And I did try the touchpad on/off button. fn f70

OK, as I mentioned earlier, try the methods in this link:https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/52439/~/touchpad-troubleshooting0
-
I would, that is the method I did on the phone with Acer this morning, there is no setting in the BIOS.0
-
You have tried almost everything, I would suggest you to do a Repair Install, follow the steps in this tutorial:https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html0

@ConfusedPerspective
BEFORE YOU RETURN YOUR LAPTOP.
Try press F9 ( OR FN+F9), sometimes people hit the F9 key by mistake, that turns off the touchpad.0
