Hi, so i have a KG271U and i just bought a 144hz hdmi cable but when i plugged it in my monitor only goes up to 70 hz and that is the same as my last cable, so i think its the monitor. what can i do to fix this? i went to settings and tried but it only lets pick between 59, 60 and 70hz.

NecroticPhoenix Hi! I checked on your monitor(KG271U) specification and it supports only up to 75Hz refresh rate.. Please check on this link https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/UM.HX1AA.011 for specifications..

I dont know which one is correct but I also contacted support and they said it will run on 144hz if I have a dp cable

There are two versions of the KG271U: Abmiipx (144Hz) and bmiippx (75Hz). Make sure your monitor is Abmiipx (look at the label on the back of the monitor to make sure).

If it matches the 144Hz model, use a high quality DisplayPort cable. Many Freesync displays only support Freesync when using DisplayPort anyway, unless they have Freesync over HDMI. HDMI has limited bandwidth capability versus DisplayPort, so it is often limited in refresh rate without reducing color depth (bpc and chrome subsampling), unless the actual port is HDMI 2.1 capable.

Yes, I believe if you have the 144Hz version you still need DP to do the 144Hz mode, not HDMI.

I have this monitor and when I first got it it worked fine and then when I unplugged the monitor and my ps5 and plugged it back in it was on 60 hz for a couple of hours then it went back to 144hz. Then I went to a mates house and took my ps5 and monitor with me, when I got home I set it all up and I was on 60hz so I thought it would just go back to normal like it did last time but it's been a week and I'm still on 60 hz I have a fast hdmi and everything like that, nothing has changed since the monitor was on 144hz I really need it to go back to 144hz. Can someone please tell me what to do and how to fix this ?
