PH315-52-76WX model screen colors fade on battery. Is this normal?

Recently got this model and can't help but notice that even though brightness is same, if I unplug, the color quality on screen degrades. Almost as if the colors have faded. Is this normal with modern panels and they require to be plugged in for best results or it's something else?

Your power plan is probably set to "power saving when on battery". Display is the biggest battery drainer so when on Power Saving mode your display automatically reverts to lower settings. You could change your power plan to High performance when on battery but your battery life will be considerably shorter. Yes, not only your display but your CPU and GPU perform at max when plugged in and High Performance when on AC is selected in the Power Plan

I hear you, but I did test this and yet didn't see a difference. My power plan at the moment is Acer default.
    Will try again.

NalinNawani well when you unplug it as it was said it will go into battery saving mode by default dimming everything unless you change the settings in the power plan advanced settings to always be on performance on all settings but that will affect your battery life a lot and might even damaged it sooner in the long run its up to you i wont recommend you to use it on battery at all only on emergency and if you cant access a socket near apart from that alwasy use it on ac as the battery on gaming laptops was not designed to be used as a normal battery as the old removable ones the battery its just a power boost to help the adapter to provide more power to the cpu/gpu when this one cant provide enough for it so think of it as a powerbank instead of a battery but of course you can use it as a battery but the issue is each charging cycle you use will be counting for the battery degrading percentage a bit like ssd's cycles

I did try it and it's not the brightness that gets affected, it's the color quality. Almost as if the colors fade away. I tried to set in maximum performance before too, but the best color quality I get only when plugged in.

Now I don't have issues with keeping it plugged in most of the times, but I just was wondering if it happens to everyone or just me.

NalinNawani Its normal probably even if you get it in high performance it will not be applied because youre only on battery a bit like the overclock will not work on battery only there are settings that will not stick on battery only and yes it should happen to everyone i dont have the same model as you have probably someone with the same could comment and i have mine on AC not stop 24/7 for the last 2 years never had any issues my battery still fine with about 9/10% wear as long as you make sure you get it calibrated every 3 months or so youre fine to be always on AC

For me, it stays the same even on battery. After clean installing Windows 10, I have the default Balanced power plan. Go to Settings - System - Battery and uncheck Lower Screen Brightness while in Battery Saver. Check if it helps.
