Hi,
Need to sort our daughters laptop AN515-52-50VR, it's screen went funny (multicolored) this afternoon, then blank and the keyboard and mouse started to flash about every 2 seconds, have powered down and rebooted, same thing. Done the battery reset thing as suggested for similar issues on the forum.

No new software or updates recently, nor any hardware changes.

If i listen very carefully I can hear it trying to boot then it stops.....any suggestions?

To try and eliminate a software problem, try a Windows clean install. Restart press Alt + F10 at start up screen and select Keep Files. Report back.

The problem is I press the power on and almost instantly it doesn't boot and then just cycles so i don't see a startup screen. I did try Alt + F10 and nothing happened.

Have you tried entering the BIOS, tap F2 at start up

Hate to say this but I'm pretty sure it's your hard drive. Hope you are still under warranty, but if not they are pretty inexpensive

Yes, did you make a backup copy of your hard drive on a USB stick?

Ah ok, i would go with a Solid State Drive (SSD). Link below to 1tb SSD from to Crucial who guarantee compatibility for your exact model, write down the part number and buy from Amazon, cheaper and faster delivery. When you get it come back here and start a new Topic "How to install Windows 10 on new SSD", or take it to a local repair shop and they will install Windows for you.

I took the old HDD from the acer and attached it to my PC just to check and it works fine, I can see and access files, would that suggest another problem other than the HDD?

Hi. I just want to know if you found out what caused your daughter's laptop to not turn on if it isn't the HDD? Sorry for asking and opening this topic again as I am currently experiencing this right now.
