Hi! I opened back cover from Acer Spin SP513-52N-50C2 laptop and one screw from battery but other screw was stuck. I just screwed back everything again because I wasn't able to see everything. I wasn't able to locate ram stick(s). Is it on the other side and is it removable or soldered on the motherboard?

  • Hi,
Unfortunately, no you can not upgrade memory in this model, this model comes with on-board memory only, it's soldered to the motherboard.

Okay it seems they have changed this. This datasheet used to say (max memory 16 GB). I even asked the seller and he thought the RAM is upgradeable. But now I have read that some similar models have it soldered. I would like to open it properly but I have to figure out how to open it because one screw is stuck in very bad place. I fear that I will somehow damage the laptop. So if somebody can verify whether it's possible or not, I will have to contact seller and hope I can sort this out. If it's not upgradeable, then I feel misinformed and fooled. I bought this laptop over a year ago and back then I thought the RAM is upgradeable. [EDIT: You seemed to have answered while I was writing this. Just didn't refresh this page soon enough to notice your post,]

Can you somehow verify this? I have to contact seller about this. I think I should have some sort of partial refund. How should I proceed the seller? I tried to ask Acer directly but I can't even find email address.

Hi! This is not exactly the identical model: SP513-52N-55LV. Mine is SP513-52N-50C2 but they both have soldered? So what's the difference between these two? 55LV and 50C2?

Forgot to put the link here. https://www.acer.com/datasheets/2017/4876/SP513-52N/NX.GR7ED.006.html This datasheet used to have "max memory 16 GB". Now I wonder if anybody is going to believe me.  can't show that old page anymore because it doesn't exist. I wonder if Acer can help me directly (probably not willingly. At least I have a bad feeling about this).

  • I would suggest you to contact Acer support centre in your region and they will be able to help you.
