Aspire Switch 10 motherboard issue

Hello, A friend of mine asked me to look at his Aspire Switch 10 SW5-012 notebook.  It was dead and would not charge.

By using a multimeter, I found that power was getting to the motherboard but not charging the battery. I determined that the motherboard was bad so I ordered a replacement.

Once the replacement was installed, I could see the charging light on so all was good until I turned it on.

I was greeted with "No boot device."

Since I am unfamiliar with Acer notebooks, I have a few questions.

Is the "hard drive" contained in the motherboard?  Should the replacement have come with software loaded on it?

How can I get software loaded onto the notebook so that it is usable again?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

p.s. I did try re-installing the old motherboard once the battery was recharged, but it was still dead.

on the new motherboard, go to bios setup, and change the sata mode.

I can get into the setup utility but that option is not available.
