Hi all

looking for some advice really, ive just picked up a Acer predator helios 300 intel core i5 8th gen model with the GTX1060, im not really a laptop wizard so excuse me on this as i have researched to try and find the answer but there is nothing exactly answering my question so here goes.

I have been playing assassins creed odyssey for a couple of hours, then returned to desktop, went had lunch came started the game and then the laptop switched off after about 5 seconds into the game, i switched it back on and noticed the battery was showing as near empty, i clicked on the battery icon and it says 14% plugged in, discharging, so what im asking is what is it doing and why is it doing this as not done this before, again laptop is plugged in, ive tried the uninstall of the microsoft ACPI advice.

Any help would be great, ive not touched any settings as im not 100% what im doing so its box standard no overlock or anything. thanks

    Hi @BEDSEO32

Does the battery discharges only while gaming?
Please try to charge and discharge the battery a full cycle. Power off the laptop and charge it to 100% , disconnect the chager and use the laptop till the charge drops to 5% . Again start charging. This would also confirm if the charger has any issues.
Discharging means that the laptop is consuming more power than PSU/motherboard is able to deliver. And then, when charge level of a battery goes down we need even more power to both continue working and charge the battery at the same time.
The only thing that has fixed the discharging issues is undervolting the CPU and GPU.. This helps with both temperatures and stable CPU and GPU clock speeds.. Nothing else to date has had any positive impact...

You can also try this @BEDSEO32

Try a battery reset, switch off the laptop, disconnect from mains and follow the instructions in the video, let the laptop to rest for a while before starting again.
    https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/34843/~/acer-internal-battery-reset
Then yo could also do a manual calibration of battery, please find the method in the middle of the page in the link:https://www.howtogeek.com/172271/how-to-calibrate-your-laptops-battery-for-accurate-battery-life-estimates/

rickyric its completely normal for the battery to discharge while performing demanding tasks especially gaming its the battery main purpose to help the adapter to provide more power to maintain the max performance of the cpu/gpu when this cant provide enough its just doing exactly what was designed for and if you have many usb devices connected at the same time draining power from the ports it will drain even more quickly also external displays through either hdmi/dp also have you optimized your windows and undervolted if not check here
