I intend to keep my games in the SSD, not the OS coz I want a safe method to clone the OS easily without losing any data and also I don't want to install a fresh OS.
if i don't find anything then i will just clone my whole hard disk to ssd
one more thing when i got nitro 5 it had only one drive that is local disk c I partitioned it and created a separate disk d (in which i keep my games and stuff )
and local disk c only contains the OS so you see I really don't know how to clone all the stuff into the ssd
    Hi,
You can transfer your OS partition to SSD and keep the games and other data in HDD but I need to see your Disk management snip to see how much data in your HDD, could you please post the snip of your Dis management, you can use Minitool partition wizard to migrate your OS safely to SSD, then go to BIOS screen, move to Boot tab and make your SSD as your first boot device.

here is the snip you asked for

    Hi,
Install the M.2 SSD in the slot, download and install Minitool Partition wizard, run the program and use migrate feature to migrate these partitions:
    1. 100MB Healthy EFI System.
    2.Acer(C)
    3. Recovery 1.00GB Healthy(OEM Partition)
Then remove the current 1TB HDD and try booting with the new M.2 SSD, once you are happy with the migration and thoroughly check that it works to your satisfaction.
Then install the old HDD, use Minitool partition wizard to delete those 3 partitions from the HDD leaving only T partition in the HDD, now you have your OS in M.2 SSD  and the HDD has all your data.
You should make sure that M.2 drive works perfectly before deleting the original OS(1,2 and 3 partitions) is deleted.

    Hi,
You can install a M.2 SATA SSD and migrate the HDD contents to it, then use it as a boot drive and use the HDD for storage, do you want to go with this setup or do you want to replace the HDD with a 2.5" SSD?

    Hi,
You have mentioned that you don't want to replace the current HDD where your OS resides, just want to install a M.2 SSD and use it straight away but it's not beneficial to you at all. The purpose of installing a M.2 SSD is to improve the speed of your laptop, if you are going to have the OS in HDD you will not see any improvement in performance.

The Nitro 5 does not come with an SSD it comes with a spinner HDD but, I have used the Samsung 850EVO SSD on my Nitro 5 and it works perfectly, I also use the EVO850 on my V3-571G for over 2 years. The Samsung SSD's are probably the best SSD's out there and they work lighting fast! With the Samsung SSD's you get the Samsung 'Data Migration' software that is just 'plug and play' and it will copy your windows 10 HDD to the new SSD and then you unplug and uninstall your old HDD and plug and install the new SSD and it works perfectly like with your old HDD, bootable and all. Very easy as Samsung is one of the best, not the cheapest but the best.

can i send the snip later (like 5 days later coz i dont have my laptop with me right now i will have access to it 5 days later)
okay so you are saying i can easily and safely  clone the local disk c (i.e the drive which contains my OS ) to the ssd without disturbing local disk d i get it
one more thing if i place a ssd will it void my warranty or i have to take it the acer service centre (in India i.e where i live) to do the job without voiding my warranty?

Yes, you can send whenever you are ready, you have to inquire about warranty from the Acer Support centre in your region.
