Just a quick background is in order. We use a shared chromebook laptop and are in our late 60s. We do email and some web searching at sites like Amazon, Ebay and such and a few hobbyist forums.
What we don't do and never have done is go to "Off Color" sites.
We use a chromebook because I think they are less prone to all the garbage but we are not so sure at this point. Every morning when I turn on the computer and all throughout every day I get and immediately delete numerous emails both in my actual email account and in Spam. I mean at least 20+ every day that usually have a similar title to this, "Please confirm to be removed from our XXXX Adult site" or "Your request to be removed from our XXX adult site has been approved". I don't click on them and simply delete all of them. I figure if I never requested to be on their site there is no reason I should have to request to be removed from their site. We are bombarded with spam and unsolicited emails daily from the above plus from many Free credit report companies and numerous other vendors we have absolutely no connections with and never have. We do not bank on line or do any financial interactions short of an occasional purchase with a credit card and only then if the site is listed as "Secure".

At 68 years old I need a Russian, Asian, Latino or "Hot to Trot" internet girlfriend about as much as I need the flu. I think you get my drift here, I don't need Life insurance, Medicare supplemental insurance, Credit relief, Creepy girlfriends, Home security systems, Free credit reports or anything else that is "Free" but very expensive. How the hell do I stop or at least limit all this garbage I never asked for? Basically if you are not already in my "Contact List" I prefer to NOT hear from you either on my computer, home phone or especially on my cell phone. Is there a "Do Not Call" button or "Do Not Email" button? I deleted spam emails from Grammarly, who ever the hell that is, at least 6 times today and just five minutes later I get the same one again. Going to and blocking various email senders is an effort in futility because they all have second, third and 25 different IPs to send from. I do use "Add Blockers" but this does not stop Spam or even unknown emailers.

Someone please help me here. What is my best defense with this garbage on a chromebook laptop?

Yeah, unfortunately that's not an OS issue, it's an issue with the service provider who is giving you your email. Most of the email messages running around out there are this type of SPAM, but most email providers filter the bulk of it out before you ever see it. Contact whoever is providing you email and find out what they support for filtering it.
