Touchpad doesn't work when a key is pressed (Predator Helios 300)

Basically exactly what the title says, the touchpad works fine until you hold down a key and then a weird block or delay happens which results in the touchpad being unusable for a few seconds. It's not very consistent the way this happens, occasionally it doesn't happen but 95% of the time it does and it makes most games unplayable without an external control scheme.

The laptop is brand new and was purchased yesterday so I believed it was a driver issue however every other answer online has said to uninstall the existing ELAN driver, restart, then let windows reintall it and update it when necessary. I have tried this and it does not work. The only drivers available for this computer on the Acer website is one named Synaptics and another ELAN one, however when I try to install the Synaptics one the wizard just tells me it was installed successfully with no changes whatsoever (the downloaded driver can't be found anywhere on the system).

Not really sure what to do now. :c

Completely remove all touchpad drivers you have installed using an uninstaller like youruninstaller for ex to remove all leftovers including dead reg keys and reinstall everything again if the issue persists you can also go to the bios and switch the touchpad settings from basic to advanced and vice versa to see if anything changes and as you said the laptop its brand new you could try to perform an acer stock recovery (clean install) backup whatever you need first and ALT+F10 on boot select delete everything the laptop will be formatted to the day you first booted it at this point if a stock recovery still doesnt solved it (usually all software issues are solved at this point) i would assume its a hardware issue (in rare cases might happen) and i would send it back.

You should also have all the stock drivers/apps in the system root drive (usually C) in a hidden folder called OEM
