Right out of the box this laptop is unusable.  How do I get normal colors on this screen.  It looked ok, but not great, in the store, and I just assumed someone had messed up the settings.  Now I see it’s a problem with Acer.  I can’t find any contrast settings, and playing with the color settings does nothing.

What do you mean by 'out of the box' ? Was this a display model 'out of the box' in the store? And then put back in the box for you to take home?   Jack E/NJ

No it is brand new, that’s what I meant.  I got it home and turned it on and it’s so washed out and pale nothing in the screen is legible.

OK. Check if the ACER updated VGA drivers are newer than what you have on there now in DeviceMgr. Go to this link https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7972?b=1. I assume it only has the Intel graphics, no nvidia.

Then try to adjust the display from both the Intel Graphics ControlPanel (search Windows start menu for intel) and the regular Windows ControlPanel (right click on blank desktop area).

If still no joy and based on what you said you saw on the store's display model, I'd ask for a refund or exchange for something else pronto. Do it ASAP before its returns period expires. Even though you're probably closer to the service center than most folks, a warranty fix will take longer and involve shipping costs if you can't hand deliver.

Ok yeah I did that, got the newest drivers, etc.  I have the Acer sitting here next to my desktop, which has a Dell montior on it.  The colors on the laptop are still washed out; I can't seem to get them too look good, especially compared to another monitor.  I think I'll take it in to MicroCenter and see if they can help.  If not, I may have to return it and get something else.  I'm still dumbfounded that a laptop in 2019, new in the box, has such a terrible display.  I shouldn't have to spend 2 days trying to get it usable.  Thanks for the help.
