Hello,
I bought a second hand Helios 500 PH517-51 and there was a Windows 10 pro on it but after 3 Months it said OS will expire soon. I wanted to install a new Windows but the recovery partition was deleted. I was wondering how can i get (download) a Recovery for my laptop.
Thanks

Recovery partition is only for recovering laptop to factory shipped condition. Some people, like me for example, simply delete that partition to reclaim that space - after making a backup first. You could check with your seller on this if he made such a backup.

    Three options:
    1. Go to microsoft web site and download a clean copy of windows and install it. If your laptop came with windows 10 home bundled onto it, the installation would pick the key from motherboard.
    2. Call up microsoft help center or check online on how to find your laptop's built-onto-motherboard windows 10 home key (assuming the laptop came default with windows 10 home).
    3. Contact Acer for the recovery USB - you might need to pay for this.

    Bonus:
    4. If you have windows 10 Pro, I am not sure why it says it would expire - windows 10 home and pro are perpetual licenses until the product's end of life. You could check with MS on this. They would guide you on how to check the key, and the key status/life. And might even offer one for a discount, if you wish to continue using pro.

MS folks are pretty helpful in this regard (if you do not get a nice person the first time, try again). I had mine upgraded from home to pro for a pretty hefty discount.

    Thank you very much.
I downloaded a new Windows from Microsoft and after installation it was automatically activated.
