My touchpad of my chromebook CB3-431 isn't working.

I have had an acer chromebook cb3-431 for around 2 years and suddenly today my touchpad stopped working. I have a mouse on it, and that works perfectly fine. But my touchpad doesn't do anything.

I don't know what to do.

    Hi AlexanderWing

If your touchpad stops working, try these steps:

    • Make sure there is no dust or dirt on the touchpad.
    • Press the Esc key several times.
    • Drumroll your fingers on the touchpad for ten seconds.
    • Turn your Chromebook off, then back on again.
    • Perform a hard reset.
    • If you have more than one account on your Chromebook, delete the account that has problems with the touchpad, then re-add the account.

    Hi AlexanderWing

You can also try below steps to enable the touchpad
    1. Open your web browser.
    2. Type chrome://flags/#ash-debug-shortcuts in the address bar of the web browser and press Enter.
    3. Enable the option Debugging keyboard shortcuts, then restart your Chromebook.
    4. Press the Search + Shift + P keys at the same time to toggle the touchpad On or Off.

Both connector ends of the touchpad's ribbon cable probably need to be re-seated. To access, the bottom cover and battery must be removed. The touchpad connector to the mainboard is located very close to, and to the left of, the battery connector to the mainboard.  Jack E/NJ

JackE - Yahoo!!!!  Your guide worked perfectly.  I am NOT a techie, but it was pretty easy to fix.  About 10 to 15 minutes.  I was on Amazon ready to buy a new laptop when I read your advice.  I owe you.  Thank you again. Jay

I can vouch for that repair too. Just remove the two screws to the battery and move it aside. Unplug and put pack the the connectors and it should start working.
