I am trying to set up a new TC-885. The VGA output from the D17E5,Aspire TC-885 is connected to the DVI-D input on an EIZO monitor. The monitor does not sense any input from the Aspire, which does not have a dedicated GPU. I also tried the Aspire's HDMI port to the Eizo's DVI-D input with the same result.

I found an old KDS monitor with a VGA input and it seems to be working.  The Eizo may be toast, but I'll check it out later.

Thank you, billsey, for forcing me to reconsider the monitor!

    Hi h4xintl

Check the video card settings, if there is any option to leave the hdmi input as the default device!
Does your motherboard have the nvidia video card or only the intel video card?

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, since I have no video, I have not been able to see or change anything. It is a new machine that has never been set up. No separate video card.

I am sure the monitor is working. Is there a different way that I can confirm whether or not the Aspire has video output?

It easily could be the cable. Do you have access to a different monitor or different cable? Does the monitor support inputs other than DVI-D?

Thanks for your comment. I tried 2 different cables, VGA to DVI-D and HDMI to DVI-D. Those are the only two outputs on the Aspire and both cables are new. The only other input on the monitor is a D-Sub Mini. I'm really sure the monitor is working well, but I will verify that as soon as I can using my laptop as input.

It's within the realm of possibility that the VGA to DVI-D and HDMI to DVI-D cables are actually DVI-D to VGA and DVI-D to HDMI. Sometimes the cables aren't symmetrical, especially when converting an analog signal to to digital.
