Hi!

My unit is AN515-42-R9G7. Bought it 12 days ago (August 18, 2019. Philippine Date). My unit starts up slow but does not hang like when I am playing League of Legends it only renders 1-8fps and takes about 1-2 seconds to respond to keyboard and mouse clicks. I thought this was a connectivity issue but my phone runs just fine with my internet connection.

I started having this issue when I tweaked my power settings. (See screenshot below).

Here are a few things I tried to resolve the issue.
• Updated Windows10 - which kinda helped but the performance is still not as smooth when I restart my unit
• Checked for malware using Windows Defender.
• Updated GPU drivers
• Battery Reset - This actually worked on the first time I turned on my unit but the problem came back the following day.
• Changed back the power options (Processor Power Management) to 100% (default).
• Disabled all startup apps
• Also followed instructions on this link: https://bit.ly/2ZwYYSR
• Uninstalled Norton

I'd really appreciate any kind of help!

Hi @andylb ! I appreciate your prompt response.

I dont seem to have any response while pressing ALT + F10. Is that okay?
Did you update your drivers from the Link I supplied above? If not please do so. For the reinstall try tapping them together the moment it begins to reboot but do the drivers first to see if that solves it

What do you mean by "Updated Windows 10"? Did you reinstall it? If you did not I'd like you to try a reinstall by restarting and pressing  Alt + f10 at the Acer logo

My value in Power Options: minimum 5% 100%, maximum 100% 100%.Try to set them.
If this does not help, then delete you graphic driver with Display Driver Uninstaller (Safe Mode, reboot) and install newer driver from AMD website (https://bit.ly/2NHKRnl). Also you can install chipset driver to you laptop (https://bit.ly/2HzXxc9) and switch your power plan to ryzen balanced. I think it solve you problem.

I am sorry but please be careful with your answers. The Display Driver link you supplied is for Ryzen 7 based models and the Chipset driver link is incorrect because BIOS updates should only be downloaded from the Acer support page due to specific BIOS features for the model.
AMD supply a combined driver update for Mobile Processors and Graphics cards. Latest Driver link from AMD below. Thankyou

Alright this actually improved the unit to a workable performance. But it still performs optimally after I restarted it.

    @andylb
"AMD supply a combined driver update for Mobile Processors and Graphics cards"
    Where it says?
On the Ryzen processor drivers page there is only the Ryzen Master program, there are no drivers there. Drivers for mobile APUs contain a driver for integrated graphics Vega.
And chipset driver it's not a BIOS. These are different things.

Here was the announcement, the drivers are automatically supplied through the update tab of the AMD Catalyst Control Center
    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Better-late-than-never-Radeon-Software-updates-will-now-include-support-for-AMD-Ryzen-Mobile-APUs.391991.0.html

This has been accepted fact on this Forum since their release in March of this year. The driver update supplies the drivers for the Ryzen processor, the dedicated GPU and the discrete GPU all in one download

You shouldn't have to do that but if you want to try it, partition your hardrive so that you can dual boot to either operating system

    Appreciate your help @andylb

I'm thinking of it as a last resort if in case the service center couldn't do anything about it.
