I needed more storage so I studied the link below and opened my laptop up according to the instructions in the link.  Found that the cable was not included, so closed it up.  Everything was fine.  Bought a 1TB hard drive (Seagate BarraCuda ST1000LM048) and the sata cable. Went back to the link below and followed the instructions to install the hard drive to a T. Now my laptop won't turn on without the power cable plugged in. I tried resetting the battery button on the motherboard (hold for 15 seconds), but no dice. Laptop turns on fine when plugged in and battery says fully charged! Just used it yesterday for 4 hours without cable and it had plenty of juice left, so I know it was a good battery, unless I did something wrong when installing the 2nd drive.  I was very careful to only deal with the sata port.

Any ideas?  Appreciate any help.  BTW the new drive works well.

    Good evening steve51874 !

    Power Outage Button

The interrupt button not being pressed correctly may generate this problem.

There is a power interrupt button:

If it is not pressed down or the case is misaligned, errors may occur.
Check the same and use something like a layer of insulation tape to force and press this button correctly.

On the cover there is a projection that must press the button.
Use electrical tape or something to force more pressure on this button.

Thank you so much!  That was it.  I purposefully left the case open so I can test it...so I don't have to rescrew/unscrew all 19 screws again in case I mis-align something.  Therefore, the cover was not on.  Who knew (well I guess you knew) that the memory cover itself had to be on.  It works well now.  One other quick question, would you happen to know the part number of the hard drive caddy/bracket?  My hard drive did not include a hard drive bracket...I'm going to have to purchase one.

Thanks again...this was a huge help!

    Good afternoon!

    Good to have helped you!
I couldn't really identify the numbering of the piece you requested.
I suggest you contact your local Acer support directly to let them know!
