Hi,

Please help. My Aspire 5750 has a noisy fan. I tried opening the notebook to get to the fan to see if it had a part rubbiing against it or was full of dust however stopped after after 2 hours of undoing screws becuase i was too frustrated. I started from the keypad side and opened it up that way. Can you access it from the battery side of the laptop? how ?

Is this noisy fan from another reason? (other than dust or something caught in there).

I appreciate any help.

Jai

The fans on computers respond to the temps that BIOS feeds them. So if you're computers CPU is running hot your BIOS will tell the fan to turn on, or increase its RPM, if it is too hot BIOS will shutdown you're PC (just like if the battery and AC adapter are unplugged, without an message or anything).

So you're processor/GPU is running hot. This could be because the thermal compound is doing a lousy job of transferring heat to the heatsink, or more likely the heatsinkr is clogged with dust and the fan is having trouble blowing the air through it. So heat builds up and BIOS says to speed up the fan making it noisy.

I did some searches and here is a tutorial on how to disassemble you're model of notebook. Or models that are similarly built.

    Acer Aspire 5745G-6726

    that will probably work.
