Aspire R11 reset problem

We have an R11 chromebook, which has been a problem pretty much soon after we bought it.
Kept getting messages saying storage was low, although we had next to nothing stored on it, just a few documents.
Last week I thought I would do a factory reset, which was going fine until about 45% in when a message showed stating that there was a problem encountered and the reset could not be finished. Now the machine is stuck in a loop, it goes from the logo screen into a black screen and nothing happens. I have tried going to troubleshoot them into Advanced options, start up repair, using some of the command prompt tutorials but nothing has worked.
I am going to try and use an installation USB recovery from Microsoft to kick start Windows 10, if this doesn't work is there any other options beside converting the laptop to landfill?
The machine is in great order, and it is the first Acer we have owned (and probably last now) just seems a shame to discard.

If you have a factory chromebook, it's designed to run on the Google's chrome operating system. Not Microsoft's Win10 operating system. Jack E/NJ
