What problem does your laptop have that you think a BIOS firmware change will fix? Jack E/NJ

Don't need firmware update if no serious problems. Jack E/NJ

What BIOS Version number do you already have and what BIOS version are you trying to update too, please give the version number not the release date? It may well be that you already have the latest BIOS installed

    If you can't install 1.26 try 1.25

BIOS updates, unlike device driver and operating system updates, are usually considered irreversible. Accordingly, they should only be applied as a last resort for trying to fix serious or disabling problems due to their inherent risk of bricking the machine or creating side effects that are worse than the original problem.  Jack E/NJ
