Conditioning a new battery - how to go about it

So according to the manual I have to:
  1. Connect the AC adapter and fully charge the battery.
  2. Turn on the computer and complete setting up the operating system.
  3. Disconnect the AC adapter.
  4. Operate the computer using battery power. - TO WHAT POINT? Until it's depleted completely or what?
  5. Reconnect the AC adapter and fully charge the battery again. - WHEN DO I DO THIS? Can it be after 1% of its capacity has been used (I'm assuming no, but things like these should be specified)
  6. Follow these steps again until the battery has been charged and discharged three times.
So yeah, it's not specified when should I plug it to AC adapter again.

Also, the manual gives contradictory statements:

Optimizing battery life

  • Use AC power whenever possible, reserving battery for mobile use.
and a while later it says:

Conditions that can adversely affect the battery

  • Using the computer on constant AC power.
WTF? So which is it? Unless the first advice tells us to remove the battery first from the laptop but that would be too bothersome, especially in my model where it can't be done easily.

I would appreciate for a clear answer.

You are over-thinking this. Just use the system and replacement battery as you normally would. Jack E/NJ
