Acer Aspire 5 - 1 of my 2 2.0 usb ports aren't working properly.

I recently bought an Acer aspire 5 about 3 weeks ago, and today while playing a game, my usb controller disconnected. I tried plugging other things into that port, and turns out it has power, but doesn't run things. When I plug in my keyboard, the power light comes on, but no windows device sound comes up, and the keyboard doesn't type. Then I tried my mouse, and same thing, lights, not working, as well as the controller. Then i tried plugging my phone in. At first it started to charge, but then I blew into the port to make sure it wasn't dirty, and it picked up the phone as a flie transfer device. There are no driver updates for any of the USB devices in devmgm. PLease help.

Hi,
Go to Device manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, highlight each USB device and right click, uninstall the drivers, reboot and let Windows install the drivers.

So when I delete them all, just to make sure  they will come back when I restart right?

You have to right click each, click Properties and go to Driver tab, click uninstall the drivers, then reboot and let Windows install the drivers, do this for each item under USB Controllers.

Yes I understand how to uninstall drivers  but I've read in some places that if windows doesn't recognize the recent drivers, it won't come back when you reboot.

Windows will install the stock drivers for your system.

HEy brummy, it stopped working again

i had my laptop closed, and when i came back to it, the eject sound went off, and the mouse stopped working.

Hi,
You could try a battery reset, switch off the laptop, disconnect from mains, use a small paper clip to press the reset button at the back, leave the laptop to rest for a while(15-30mins) then try starting again, if that doesn't help, you could consider returning the laptop for a replacement, if that's possible or send it for a service under warranty.
