Does it have an optane memory card installed in the m.2 slot? Jack E/NJ

Then Optane card is already connected to help speed up the HDD. Intel Optane card is ONLY designed to accelerate performance of the HDD. It is NOT like a normal m.2 SSD card and thus is NOT accessible through File Explorer. Jack E/NJ

    (1) What problem did you have that you thought a BIOS update would solve?

    (2) What problem did the original Intel RST version have that you thought 17.5.2.1024 would solve?

    (3) What BIOS version number did you download and use from this link? https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7296?b=1

    (4) Show me screen shots of your BIOS Information, Main and Advanced tabs.

Did you buy the Optane card and try to install it yourself? Jack E/NJ

Your machine's HDD is in a RAID configuration. Thus the firmware and mainboard aren't set up to support Optane HDD enhancement. You are much better off and easier to simply replace the 2.5" WD HDD with a 2.5" SSD. Or even migrate the system on the HDD to an m.2 SATA SSD. Probably cheaper too. Jack E/NJ

The specsheet does NOT show a BIOS firmware option to enable Optane on your model HDD. Particularly since the HDD is set up as RAID. Optane memory cards don't usually support a RAID configuration. If it were my A715-71G, I would immediately return the Optane card to the vendor for a refund before the vendor's return period expires. Optane is not suitable or practical for your system. As I said earlier, it will be cheaper, easier and more reliable to either replace your HDD with an SSD or migrate your HDD system to an m.2 SSD card which would be even faster than a Optane-accelerated HDD.  Jack E/NJ
