Acer Aspire 5250 will not output to external monitor

I have an Aspire 5250-Bz455 laptop...I am trying to get it to output to an external LCD monitor. I have tried 3 separate monitors using the VGA connection. (FYI, this is the first time ever trying to do this so it has never worked since I have owned it - the laptop is in mint condition and only used a few times).

I am running Windows 7 64bit - Windows detects each monitor and I can set it to extend the desktop or duplicate but no matter what I do, the monitors all say "no signal".

So Windows detects the monitor is connected but the monitor does not detect the computer is connected. All monitors are HD and fairly new. I have tried the Function key - the laptop screen blanks out for a moment...also tried Windows+P and those options do not work either. I have another laptop (Dell) that works fine with the monitors using the same OS and same settings.

I have tried to change the resolution, checked refresh rate, etc. I have completely uninstalled and removed all ATI drivers and software then reinstalled the latest version from ATI's web site - no change at all. Even with the laptop lid closed, "no signal". I have also tried 2 different VGA cables and they both work with my other laptop so its not the vga cable and its not the monitor.

Any suggestions would be helpful - please read what I have tried and don't repeat those steps if possible. Thanks.

    That's a very odd problem.

If the monitor is being detected by Windows, that means there is communication with the monitor.

However, if you are getting No Signal, that indicates an issue with the connection.

We would suggest contacting technical support in your region for further assistance with this issue.
