I just recently encountered an issue with my Acer Nitro 5 AN515-24-R970. The display froze with the sound (from the music player) still playing. I had connected a USB mouse and keyboard and both were unresponsive. I tried unplugging my mouse and plugging it back in, the laser lights didn't turn on. I was about to do a forced shutdown but for some reason I thought of unplugging the power adapter from my laptop and it just unfroze itself. I tried plugging it back in and the laptop froze again after a few minutes of use (with the solution being the same). I found this strange since this is the first time this happened although this time I plugged into another outlet at home and I had no issue for about 7-8 hours of straight use until it happened. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? I would also like to ask if is it okay to keep my laptop's power adapter cord coiled and could this be a factor in the issue? (I keep the twisted wire-tie tied around the coil of wires to keep the cord length short).

This is an unusual problem so we need to troubleshoot and narrow it down, can you confirm that this doesn't happen when on battery power? The obvious thing is a bad power cord so you are going to need to get access to another power cord and see if it solves the problem. You may be able to go to a local computer store and ask them to let you plug it in there to test it. Get back to me with the results.

I forgot to state that I wasn't running any resource-intensive program. I was working on some programming coding and my power plan was set to 'High Performance' when plugged in.

I can confirm that this hasn't happened when I'm running on battery power. I've currently plugged my laptop back into the same outlet and if it still happens I'll try plugging into another outlet. If it still happens I'll try to find another power adapter. I also forgot to state that my laptop is only a month old and to have the power adapter failing is somewhat worrying.

@BlackCobalt Faulty parts can happen with every brand. You should always have your power cord plugged into a Surge Protector NOT directly into your household power supply. By your description of different behavior using different outlets in your home, your own power supply may have caused the damage if you were not using a surge protector
