Choose to restart & update my Acer. After this happened my laptop worked fine but then froze whilst opening chrome. Eventually had to force shut down, and upon restarting it is stuck on the Acer loading screen.

After following some internet advice I forced shut down again for the “preparing automatic repair”, however the screen then turns black.

I have also tried the alt + f10 thing but got the same black screen.

Please help lol

Turn the machine completely off. Remove the charger. Gently insert a paperclip into the battery reset pinhole on the bottom case for about 10 seconds. Let the machine rest for 15 mins. Then try to turn it back on.

I’ve followed your instruction but it is once again stuck on the Acer loading screen.

Press and hold the power button till the machine turns completely off. Then turn it back on and immediately tap the F2 key to enter the BIOS menu. In the Main tab, make sure the F12 and D2D options are enabled. Then F10 to save settings and exit the BIOS menu. Then turn the machine off again in the same manner. Turn it back on and immediately press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key. A recovery screen should appear as in the video below. You can either reset the machine to a factory fresh state or  refresh it while trying to save your personal files and programs. Jack E/NJ

This method worked thank you. However, my laptop is now running at 100% disk, even though there are no programs running but task manager. It is practically unusable and freezes just trying to minimise task manager.
