Hi All,

My names Nikola and I recently purchased an Acer Nitro 5. It only has 3 USB ports, one on the left and 2 on the right (when facing the screen). I recently have been having issues with the two ports on the left. Originally I had no issues with these two ports, I could connect any of my devices and it would work fine. However, recently when I began plugging in new hardware only one USB port would work. Then it would switch and the other would work. So occasionally detecting the hardware. Ive verified the hardware I'm using is functioning correctly. Now im at the point where neither of the two ports seem to function. They both seem a little loose, so does the USB port on the left. The only thing I can think of is that Im using a USB hub on the left side port to add 4 more USB ports. Perhaps that is interfering with the ports?

Does anyone have any advice on correcting this issue, or should I assume the ports are faulty and contact the warranty support? I really dont want to send off my laptop to get repaired unless its an absolute must as I do alot of work from home from it.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
- Updated every USB port under Universal Serial Bus Controllers in Device Manager
- Unchecked the "Turn off to save power" option in each USB Option under Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
- Went to battery options and for my current Power Plan:  Power Option -> Advanced Settings -> USB Settings -> Disabled USB Selective Suspend Setting
- Gently using a Q-Tip and Isopropal Alcohol cleaned each USB port (including the left side one, which continues to work) to ensure there was no dust.
- Updated all my Laptops current firmware (https://www.acer.com/ac/en/CA/content/support-product/7571?b=1&pn=NH.Q4QAA.001) For my specific model.

I think you have already done the troubleshooting steps, the next step is to get this checked with Acer.
