Trying to filter through previous post on here about the topic, Ive discovered that using a docking station for the laptop will not work through the USB-C 3.1 connection, as it does not support video display. My question is has anyone had any luck with a docking station using the USB 3.0 port, and running a second monitor directly from the graphics card?

Jmorris812 your usb-c port doesnt support DP it will never work only latest gen usb-c/thunderbolt support dp the only option to run a second monitor its probably by splitting the hdmi connection but then will probably not work either its a question of trying it get a hdmi splitter and test it  and the u stated the usb 3.0 port for video that is unthinkable never supported and never will as i said you best option its the hdmi port and make sure you use a hdmi 2.0 cable and that the monitors/splitter you are connecting to is also/supports 2.0
