What type of M.2 SSD type do I need to buy for an Aspire E5-772-556f
Does a Samsung 860 EVO 500GB SSD M.2 SATA fit in here?
I cannot find it in any specs and cannot find a service manual.

And is this SATA fast enough or is it better to replace the HDD with an SSD?

Thanks, Peter.

    Hello,
According to the Acer specifications, M.2 SSD slot supports SATA III.

OK thx laurant_14 for the reply ...so I can install 500GB M.2 and leave the original HDD of 500GB. Then I can clone the HDD to the SDD and change the boot sequence to start from the SSD? That's what I have in mind.

Is it possible to install 500GB SSD M.2 because I've read some models have restrictions to 256GB?

First you have to create Acer recovery media to restore your system if you need. You'll be able to clone the HDD/SSD and wipe/format your HDD after.

It is the maximum capacity tested by Acer but may be not the limit.

Thx...However it sounds strange to me that Acer does not know what ssd spec can be put in the m.2 slot...
I've been reading things about the possibility of an NVME drive which is obviously even faster if the PCIe spec is sufficient. I think it has an PCIe version 2.0 and a 4x connection. Does this mean It can be equiped with an NVME drive then?

I'm getting the feeling it's not easy to order the right ssd with the best performance. :)

    Hello,
You can easily check it with HWiNFO. For example, my laptop has an Intel 600p (NVMe). Expand Bus, PCI Bus #0 and select PCIe Express Root Port #9. Check on the right the Maximum Link Width. It must be 4x to fully support an PCIe X4 NVMe SSD.

Don't have the nvme and have ordered the Samsung 860 EVO 250GB SSD M.2 SATA.
Thx for the input ...wil let you know if it worked in a couple of days.
