Currently, I own Acer Predator 15 (i7 6700HQ / GTX 1070) and wanna switch to smth lighter, smaller. ACER Triton 500 (i7 8750H / RTX 2080) looks perfect for this purpose. But maybe there are some common issues? Something that is repeatedly seen here already. Anything like this or this device is reliable?

Already read about battery discharging while playing top games and some weird black screen issues that sometimes end with acer replacing laptop. What's that?

vorob The battery discharging its normal in all gaming laptops while gaming or performing high demanding tasks regarding the black screen issues that might get the entire unit replaced or mobo only its because most of the times its easier to replace the full mobo or the unit itself than loosing time trying to pinpoint the fault and no manufacturer can guarantee 100% that all units coming out of the assembly line are all working without any faults there are and there always will be faulty devices when it comes to mass production so what you have heard about getting replaced was probably some of those few faulty units theres no way to tell until it happens and in my opinion if someone is afraid because it might get a faulty unit it will end up to never buy anything its the same as always keep waiting for a better one after the newest come out its always a risk to take when it comes to buy any device of any kind

    Hi!

I've been trying to get information on the black screen issues. I have the 2080 max Q model and am experiencing the random black screens while gaming. Screen would turn off and audio would stutter and then continue. Have to do the manual shutoff  and restart the laptop, it'll reboot itself 2-3 times before actually booting up with the splash screen. What's the best way to get this fixed if there are any solutions?

    Thanks!

You can try the common battery power drain and check if the kill switch its properly pressed in the ram compartment those are the common issues

    Hello man!
Have you found a solution or something ?
I had pretty all the problems you could have on this laptop unfortunately, wifi card issue, random black screen, sound a bit laggy sometimes (software I think) and battery discharging!
Now it's the second time I sent the laptop to a repairation and I'm waiting for it to be back.
Now I'm hesitating between exchanging the laptop with the New Zephyrus S or buying again the Triton 500 fresh.
Pls reply me and say what you did for your random black screen!

Well, i've got Triton for more than a month and I'm using stock windows 10. I've updated my Windows 10 to a neweres release - no issue. Always updating geforce driver - no issue. Installed latest bios - no issue. Literally no issue at all. So this may be because of faulty unit or incorrect program installation. If you still think about moving to another brand, take MSI Stealth, its almost identical to Triton 500. New Zephyrus S is trash. Weird cooling system, soldered RAM, keyboard in the ***** and so on.

Okay I owned (still own it actually but is being repaired) the 2080 max-q, 1Tb ans 16 Gb of RAM and I'm thinking about buying the 32 Gb of RAM because I'll probably have a refund due to the multiples repairs!
I played on it for like 4 months before having any issues. Plus, mine was a bit bent on the back, like where the screen is attached, the little piece under the screen which is made of plastic I guess.
But overall without issues I was very happy of this laptop, everything was fine (just the speakers not loud without Maxx Audio ajustements).

Now hope I'll get a refund and a good unit next time, also thx for reply ;)
