Yesterday, I upgraded the CPU from i3-2120 to i5-3470. Booted into Linux from an HDD and had that running youtube videos for a while and it ran fine. Then I stuck in an SSD and attempted to install W10 from USB. I got through the first dialogs, it started copying files, and then I guess it rebooted (I was away for a minute) and I got back to a black screen / no video. I turned it off by pressing and holding power button, turned it on again, fans spin up but there is just no video (not even 'press del for bios') and no beeps either.

Since then, I have tried the following:
  • Taking out the i5 and putting the original i3 back in
  • Different monitor
  • Different output (HDMI instead of DVI) from the video card (AMD Radeon HD 7470)
  • Removing the video card and connecting a monitor to the onboard VGA/DSUB
  • Disconnecting the SSD
  • Disconnecting the optical drive
  • Trying each RAM module seperately
  • Pressing and holding power button for 30 seconds with power cable disconnected
  • Resetting BIOS through the jumper
  • Removing BIOS battery
  • Swapping the BIOS WP jumper (unsure which setting does what, I found it in the pin 2-3 position when I got this computer)
  • Various combinations of the above
Interestingly, when I removed both RAM sticks, the board went into beep-beep-beep-mode... otherwise it is silent.

Is my motherboard fried? Any tips?
