hi every1,

I’ve been struggling ever since I decided to change the thermal pads and paste of my laptop. Using a popular guide I found on youtube I changed everything as was specified and had even higher temps than I originally started with. I have since changed the paste and pads around 10 times with very little difference. Just now I realized that not all the thermal pads are of the same height, which was left out of the video. Could someone please help me out with the placement of the 1.0 mm height thermal pads? I’ve till now been using 1.5 mm with no success. Thank you in advance from a frustrated person!

Replacing the thermal pads its a bit tricky (if they are mixed sizes) my advice to everyone its when you repaste (if you are allowed to yourself without voiding your warranty) if you didnt damaged any of the thermal pads in the disassembling process do not change them if they are ok just leave them be only change them when they are damaged and always check the sizes when you remove them from place

Yes, please proceed with caution. I used HotelHero’s @Red-Sand video that described the process and there was no mention of the varying sizes of thermal pads and their different positions. In fact, in the beginning of the video it only mentions 1.5mm high pads are required. Guess I will just need to experiment and endure the trial and error, if no one has any pointers.

Tried repasting and reapplying the thermal pads anew. This time used 1mm pads around the GPU (5 or 6 rectangle shapes). Still hitting 95 celsius. Anyone have tips perhaps? It is a massive waste of time and money and at this point I am extremely desperate. Thank you in advance.
