HI, new here. Tried a search for my problem but maybe worded it incorrectly. I have a new aspire 7 and removed windows and installed Linux Mint 19.1. My last computer ran great with Linux and this one is fine except it will not connect to my Acer ET3220R monitor. when I hit FN+ F5 key the monitor appears to come alive, then it displays "no signal". I know the HDMI is good as the monitor connects each time to my Dell chromebook and my previous ASUS that died last week connected no problem to the monitor. All the other function keys appear to be fine. any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Tim

    (1) What is your full Aspire 7 model number? A71x-xx?
    (2) Did you check the HDMI output before you wiped Windows?
    (3) Did you check the HDMI output to a plain vanilla TV set?
    (4) If still no signal, did you also wipe the hidden ACER recovery partition?

Hi, Aspire 7 A715-72G-79R9. 256 SSD only. No to questions 2 and 3. I will check with my computer guy to see if the ACER recovery partition was removed. Thanks for taking the time to look at this! Thanks, Tim

On question 3, do you mean that a plain vanilla TV set also displayed no signal? Jack E/NJ

I just noticed that my "Function" keys aren't working so that is the issue for sure. Now, any hints on restoring the key settings? Thanks, Tim

Problem solved. I hit the button at the same time when pressing the function keys and they only work if I just press the function keys alone! Thanks for the suggestions. Tim

Congrats. You can go into the BIOS Main tab to change the Function key behavior option so they act normally. Jack E/NJ
