Other users have reported occasional problem with certain keyboard keys not working, but I've been unsuccessful, so far, in finding a solution.
My computer is an Acer Aspire V3, running Windows 10.
The keys that are not working all on the right side of the keyboard:
  1. vertical bars/backslash key in Row 4
  2. the M/m key in Row 2
  3. The right-hand Shift key in Row 2
  4. The "Fn-Volume Up/Up Arrow" Key  in Row 1.5
  5. The "Dot/Del" key in the embedded number pad in Row 1  (2nd from right on the bottom row).
An external USB keyboard works fine.  No problem.

I have pursued a number of possible fixes without success, including:
  1. Uninstalling and reinstalling the Keyboard driver in Device Manager
  2. Updating to the most recent version of Windows  (now v. 1903 for 64-bit systems)
  3. Resetting the battery, using pinhole access on under side
In addition, I've cleaned the keyboard as well as I can, including prying off some (not all!) key pads.

Some Answers have suggested that this may be related to keys getting "dirty and corroded with age".  This might be the case, but I'm unclear as to why five (5) keys would go out all at once, without any intermittent problems occurring first.   And by the way, there's nothing that "happened" that I'm aware of that might have caused the problem.
I will go to the trouble and expense of replacing the keyboard, but I prefer to get some feedback first that this is likely to provide a fix.  (I don't want to waste my time and money!)
At this point, I'm MOSTLY looking for some reassurance that replacing the physical keyboard, will provide a likely solution.

Thanks.
