Hello Everyone, I just joined your site a few minutes ago and I would like some advice on Acer desktops. I've had a Dell 3646 desktop for a little over four years and I'm interested in buying something new. A week ago I had purchased a Dell 3670 desktop, but was horrified by their lack of customer service so I returned it. Now I'm back in the market again and I've read where Acer computers are rated as one of the best. In no way should I be considered tech savvy which puts me at a loss when looking at new computers. What I've been using the Dell 3646 for has been sending and receiving e-mails, web surfing, and I have a friend overseas so I use Skype very often. I don't store very much and I don't have a lot of files. Can anyone give me any advice on which Acer computer would be best for my needs? I would like whatever I buy to have the ability to write and burn CD's and if the one I choose comes with a monitor I would like to have a camera and mike with it.I would like it to big enough in case my use improves. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Boy, there are lots and lots of models that can fit that bill, but you might find that all pieces in one package will require a little creativity. In general most desktops do everything you ask, except even when they have a monitor bundled the mic and camera aren't included. It's pretty easy to add those two on using after market parts. I have an older Logitech camera/mic that uses a USB port and captures 1080P resolution cleanly. A laptop, on the other hand, will almost certainly have the camera and mic, but many of those no longer include CD/DVD drives. Again you can go third party and pick up a USB drive that does everything you want. In looking at models I suggest a Windows 10 Home system (the extra features in Pro really only help in some types of networked environments) with 8-16GB of memory (less will stumble and slow pretty often, more is really only needed for graphics intensive operations or heavy multitasking), a 256GB SSD (you likely won't need more storage and if you find you do a 2TB added HDD is around $100), the typical corded mouse and keyboard and a 24" monitor that supports 1080P.
