Hi

I'm going to upgrade the memory on my eMachines e527 laptop from 160 GB to 320 GB.

I couldnt find any information or service manual that stated which 320 GB memorys that work with my computer.

I found a service manual for the eMachines e627 computer, where it uses either the WD1600BEVT or the WD3200BEVT hdd's:

http://tim.id.au/laptops/acer/emachines e627.pdf

So it seems more logical to use the WD3200BEVT than the WD3200BEVS?

Often it looks like the WD3200BEVT hdd's dont have metal lids. Can I use the cover from the WD1600BEVT hdd and move it to the WD3200BEVT?

Also, the more specific part numbers following the BEVT/BEVS part, i.e. the 22A23TO part of the WD1600BEVT -22A23TO, is it relevant, i.e. does the WD3200BEVT or WD3200BEVS also have to have the same last part serial number?

So which hdd's, 320 GB will work with the eMachines e527? Is there any difference between the WD3200BEVT and BEVS hdd's?

Just about any size 2.5" HDD or SSD will work in your machine up to 2 TB or 2000GB. The BEVT and BEVS are very old models with virtually the same performance. You should consider a more modern and much larger HDD or SSD that are actually cheaper & faster than these older models.  Go to this link on specifications for newer SSDs that should work just fine in your e527 https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/eMachines/e527
