I have a hair line crack forming from the hinge point to the ESC key on the keyboard. The laptop is not abused sits on a desk all day. Its physical damage but other then opening and closing the screen there is no other damaged on the case shell. There is a slight deformity at the location of the crack. Has anyone else seen this?

Actually, by the image, there is a crack at that point.
The question is ... does your device constantly open or always close the monitor cover?

when its off its normally closed, I don't like dust on the screen, so its a 50/50 deal.

I think this may be the main problem since the hinges can force this crack to open up more.

Check with customer support, They did repair mine under warranty, I was still with in time frame, but you need to talk with tier 2 support. And you need to be in warranty

Do you mean simply take it to the service center?
And thank you for letting me know the result of your issue!

If you have a Nitro 5 that is still in warranty you can contact http://go.acer.com/elitessupport. After I contact them they can give you a number to call.

@FSR1314 , thank you for the help! Service support acknowledged it as a design issue! I am having my PC repaired at the moment.

That's good news, Sometimes you just have to call. Just hoped that they corrected the problem. Mine seems to be holding up.

    Hi,

    Laptop: Acer Nitro AN515-51
My laptop lid is breaking into 2 halves and I can't even close the lid.
This has happened automatically while closing the lid. This is clearly a design issue.
No rough usage on my part.
What can be done? Can this be repaired? 3 years since I bought the laptop and I am out of warranty period.
Any estimate on how much this would cost?

Apparently AN515-53 and earlier versions have this inherent issue, Acer redesigned the hinge starting from AN515-54

    AN515-53 (2018) Hinge

    AN515-54 (2019) Hinge

    AN515-55 (2020) Hinge
