Local repair vs shipping desktop back for warranty repair?

My girlfriend's 7-month old TC-865-U12 desktop just stopped sending the signal out on the lower of the two HDMI ports.  Eliminated cable and monitor(s) as the problem -- it's the port.  Could I possibly find a local repair shop to fix this, RATHER than pay to have it shipped back to ACER for the warranted repair?
We live in a county of 300K-400K population.  Unit purchased from Costco, but they no longer carry this model.  Thanks, -Bill-

You pretty much have to send it in if you want warranty repair, a local shop might be able to do the repair, but you'd have to pay for it yourself. Since the repair is likely to require a new motherboard I'd think the cost of a local repair is likely to be prohibitive.

It could be a band-aid for the problem, but I'd be a bit worried about why the port failed in the first place. I it were zapped by plugging or unplugging the cable while powered the issue is likely just with that port. If there's been a static zap that affected a larger portion of the motherboard, and this is just the first symptom then it wouldn't surprise to see the infection spreading to other components. In that case I'd expect to continue to have failures, for instance having a USB port fail... In that case it'd definitely be in your best interest to get the warranty repair sooner rather than later.

    Hi @NoloFour ,
You can send the unit to acer repair center since the unit is covered under standard manufacture warranty.
Hit Accept if its useful :)

I suspect you're correct -- those HDMI ports ARE integrated into the motherboard, so likely not able to be repaired without just replacing the entire MB.
Just wanted a second opinion to confirm!
Would purchasing a dual-hdmi video card ALSO be a viable option?????  If so, any recommendations?  Non-gaming low-requirements user....
