I have an Acer Aspire 7. I was trying to purge unused files with Storage Sense and free up space.

Now after having needlessly messed around with Storage Sense, Windows 10 is acting up. The following issues have come up:

-  Unused drive space, rather than increasing, has now actually decreased to 153 GB from 162 GB.
-  All of my Windows update history has been lost, including drivers and Defender updates. I presume they are still installed, but I am unable to see them. Even when I try seeing the Update history by clicking on 'Uninstall updates', the list takes forever to load and I can see nothing.
-  Acer Care center opens, but when I click on 'Update' it loads forever and shows nothing.
-  Earlier I would use the 'wu10' diagnostic tool to prompt Windows 10 to install the correct updates. Now even this diagnostic tool is not working and keeps loading forever.

I've attempted Windows Restore and it didn't work. Is there anything else I can do about this? Someone please help.

in your c:\windows folder, there is a folder called software distribution, rename it to software distribution.old
to do this you will have to stop the windows update service  and 2 more services.
google search for the name of those services.
dont forget to restart the services after renaming that folder.
